Rihanna Honors Her Grandmother With $1.75 Million Donation to Barbados Hospital
‘Tis the season of giving and Rihanna has done so in the memory of her beloved grandmother ‘GranGran Dolly’ with a $1.75 million donation that will pay for vital pieces of equipment at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Bridgetown’s radiotherapy department. Because of her generous donation, it will be renamed the Clara Braithwaite Centre for Oncology and Nuclear Medicine, E! Online is reporting.
She said in a statement:
“This was my way of giving back to Barbados, in a form of philanthropy, by assisting the QEH in its continued modernization program…I believe that this will have a huge impact on the people of Barbados. This was all done to save lives or at least extend them.”
She attended the hospital with her mother Monica Fenty and her grandmother’s husband Lionel. Dolly lost her battle with cancer in June. She would be so proud of RiRi.
